Hi! For Christmas my mom let me pick out a small batch of roses to come in April. I'm so excited! I ordered the following ,

John Davis ( to go where a pinky winky hydrangea will be removed)
Tamora
Pearlie Mae (buck rose)
Peggy Martin
Quietness (really looking forward to this gal)

Do you have any opinions on these? Please do share pics if you have , ESP of the whole plant. I am really happy to get these this spring!

The only one I have is Quietness. Lovely bloom! Some fragrance but not tons. Plant gets about 4 feet high. Sometimes the canes are a little weak and I have to stake it. Winters very well but does black spot some.

Pretty, pretty, Seil. I'm hoping mine will do better this year, its second year.

Lilyfinch, I don't have your others in my garden. Hope they do wonderfully in yours. You have a most generous mom!

Quietness is the only one I have, too. Good luck with your new rose garden, though!

Seil, thank you for the pictures! I see that it is not as shrubby as I imagined , and that pic will help me place it. also I hope you don't mind,, I clicked on your pic and was able to see more off your roses. What a delightful garden you have!
Sherry, I loved looking at your blog. Your front yard sure has been transformed! You should be beyond proud of yourself.
Last year I planted quite a bit and cannot wait to see some blooms. I especially am looking forward to my lavender lassie climbers. They didn't bloom at all so I am looking forward to seeing a few. I was most impressed with darlows enigma, growing like crazy and my cl. Souv de la malmaison got huge and the fragrance is incredible. However I did get some balling, so well see what next spring brings. If only it would hurry up! :)

No problem, Lily, my albums aren't private. I'm glad you enjoyed them!

One note on Quietness. That photo was taken early last spring when it was planted in the front bed. That end corner of the bed wasn't getting much sun anymore because the maple had grown so tall. So all the roses in that corner were moved out into the new bed. I have no idea how big Quietness will get now that it's getting more sun. I'm looking forward to seeing what all those roses will do in full sun this season.

I have 3 of the roses you listed:

Pearlie Mae--new for me last year so still evaluating but appears to have potential. no pic.

John Davis--planted 5 bushes as a hedge in front of a 4' fence, took 3 years to reach full size of about 5' tall (without support), no problem with BS but does get some p. mildew, hardy to the tip in my z4 area, early bloomer & 1st flush is your biggest, but does repeat. Only pic is in its 2nd year so not full size then & only partially shows it (in the lower left corner in front of fence)
002

Quietness---about 3' tall for me, most of the canes die back in the winter in my z4 area but comes back just fine in the spring so should be reasonably hardy for you in z6, just a touch of BS in the late summer some years so good disease resistance

Oh gosh wirosarian , what a pretty picture!! I hope you take more next year to share with us. And is that catmint I see? It's one of my absolute favorite perrenials ever . I think it complements so many rose colors, and John Davis looks so pretty!! Now I really can't wait to give that yucky colored hydrangea the heave -ho to replace it . The spot I have for it is going to improve so much with that rose.
Quietness sure is photogenic !! Always looks pristine .
Seil, thanks for the note regarding its location in your pic. It looks beautiful considering it is in a shaded area so I'm sure it'll do fabulously !

Where are people getting Quietness? Are yours grafted or own-root?

RE: Care to share pics and info?

Quietness is beautiful for me. It is about 5 feet tall, and rather bushy.

Pearlie Mae is in a bed with one of my Quietness roses, and she is also beautiful.

I will look for pictures.
Chamblees sells many Buck roses. Antique Rose Emporium sells Quietness.

Yes, that is 'Walker's Low' cat mint, one of my favorite perennials.

I like 'Tamora' very much, thought some people do not like the fragrance, which is something like licorice. I like it a lot. Many flowers, lots and lots of prickles (thorns).
