| I am looking for the best most fragrant white. I've had PJPII own root he never seems to get past the first winter. Maybe Sugar moon is a better bet? I want a good bloomer. |

| See if Palatine still has anything that appeals. If not, maybe try to get PJPII from them next year. In colder zones, the difference in *source* quality is often bigger than the difference between cultivars in the same class. |
| I don't have Sugar Moon (I've been considering it for this season though) but I'd say Pope John Paul II hands down. The blooms seem to always open and it smells divine! It is a slow grower though so be patient and give it time to mature. If you have any humidity at all JFK will have beautiful long buds that will never open, just turn brown and soggy. |
| 'Full Sail' best in cool summer climates. It's not a heat lover. |
| Oops, my bad. I don't know where I got JFK from, duh. But I've also had Full Sail in the past and it was another one that balled frequently in high humidities. The blooms were lovely when they did open but you couldn't count on it. It seemed like JFK just never opened! Honor was another one that had trouble opening. That's why I say PJPII. It always seems to open no matter how damp it is! You know another thing I recall is that a lot of these whites will spot badly from rain and the Pope doesn't do that either. It just has really substantial petals that hold up well in all weather conditions. |

| Thanks Seil and Hoovb. I'm ready to pull the trigger and buy 2 grafted popes today. We are pretty dry here- low humidity so I look forward to those big blooms. speaking of low humidity. Random little factoid: flea eggs don't hatch well under 50% humidity, and so in my dry climate, we don't have to bother with flea control on our pets because there is no pressure from them at all. YAY. (Dogs still scratch though, but it's from dry skin) |

| Go ahead and order the 2 PJP11's. Grafted, it does much better then own root. |
| Sugar Moon has a delicious fragrance and beautiful blooms, the fragrance reminds me of Sheer Bliss. |

| I've had all 3. If you need a tall upright rose then it's full sail. That rose stood fast in the wind and never leaned over and bit anybody passing by. I loved my Sugar Moon but pretty as it was, it was nowhere as fragrant or could ever match the flower production of PJPII. |
| Bolero 2004 is another one to consider. I got mine own root from Roses Unlimited and it survives the winter without protection. Nice fragrance. |
Here is a link that might be useful: Bolero 2004
| That is a pretty one, Predfern! |
| I have Bolero in zone 5. About 6 years old. A romantica that survives my winters. Smallish and floppy for me..wonderful fragrance, very different bloom form than the pope. Pjp II ...beautiful big fragrant creamy blossoms....love this rose. Buy it every year! JFK? It was Dallas all over again, but he was a tall elegant ros while he lasted ( he was next to Marilyn Monroe.) |
| I just lost my PJP after six beautiful years and promptly acquired SM. That rose is simply beautiful and the fragrance is to die for. I planted it in the same spot that PJP was. After two months she is blooming like a champ. I am in Zone 9 , Central Florida and anything that grows here will grow anywhere. SM came from Chamblees and looks very healthy. They are very similar in form and in scent |

| Sugar Moon can have interesting camellia form blossoms. I don't recall that in any other rose I have grown. |
