Cherry Parfait or Love and Peace?

I am going to a large nursery this weekend - they have an excellent selection of roses. I am debating which rose to get [already have a big list] - Cherry Parfait or Love and Peace. Both are beautiful and have good reports on helpmefind, but would really appreciate any comments on them. Thanks!

| I don't have CP, but I have Love & Peace. Different colorings, CP is white with red edges, L&P is butter yellow with hot pink edges. L&P topped out at 6' tall last year, and is 3' wide. It makes a nice shrub for a HT. Not totally disease resistant, but doesn't defoliate quickly.

| If you want beauty of bloom, Love & Peace is your choice. It really is a gorgeous bloomer. The individual blooms of Cherry Parfait are not beautiful in that sense, but the bush is much more floriferous and when there are lots of red-white blooms, the bush as a whole is quite attractive. In other words, Love & Peace behaves like a hybrid tea, and Cherry Parfait more like a floribunda. So Love & Peace is more beautiful when it blooms, but Cherry Parfait blooms more and covers the entire bush. By the way, there is also a mini-rose called Love and Peace. If you are talking about the hybrid teas instead, it should be designated "Love & Peace." I'm assuming you are referring to the HT. Kate |

| Yes, I am referring to the HT Love & Peace. I just noticed Broadway available at the nursery.....how would Broadway compare to L&P? I like the yellow/pink combination, but the red/white is pretty also. I am assuming Broadway would be more HT like in its bloom habit. Any thoughts on which is the prettier bloom? |

| Sorry--can't help you with Broadway. Know nothing about it. Good luck in your search. Kate |

| It seems that every one of Meilland roses that I select turns out to be a great plant! So it is with Cherry Parfait...I bought it from J&P when they first started to push the "own root" roses. Mine now has over twenty healthy canes. Each bloom is different and they are among my prettiest.

| Nice enabling, Bob! I might have to get one of these! Thanks! |

| Another vote for Cherry Parfait here. Disease free in my yard -- zero mildew. But, the downside is zero scent -- a picture of this rose smells exactly the same as the rose itself. Not even a hint of fragrance. But it is among my most vigorous plants -- lots of bloom in flushes that repeat quickly. |

I love my Cherry Parfait. It only gets partial sun and has a lot of canes, and blooms constantly.

| If CP looks half as good as its photos, its gorgeous! My dilemma is solved - Cherry Parfait is my choice! Beautiful colors and a good bush and loads of blooms - cant wait to get this one! |

| I have Cherry Parfait. Here in Florida it gets lots of blackspot, but it is still in my garden because it is so darn pretty. I saw these at Epcot and I had to have one for myself. The color varies based on heat and light levels. |

I have a cherry parfait on the walk to my front door. I agree with the others. It is not such a great cutting rose but it's just a pretty bush. Quite a showstopper when it is blooming. If you are buying it for a landscape addition you won't be disappointed. |

| Another vote for Cherry parfait. And IMHO it is a great cut flower you just don't cut individual blooms but a cluster of blooms - it will last for a very long time. Here in coastal NC it is pretty disease resistant except for cercospora in the fall. |
