BougainFeelYa (yes, this is real!) To be intro'd in 2014. Don't think I'll be buying this one. See, this link to Star Roses site: http://www.conard-pyle.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=srplants.plantDetail&p

Why would one buy a rose that didn't look like a rose? I'm confused already. And YES, the name is a dud. Susan |

| Generally speaking, commercial names are chosen by marketing people, who don't know a whole bunch about roses or gardening. And, yeah, they sure make some bum decisions. Jeri |

| It's part of their new Looks-a-Likes series. Look-A-Likes Hydrangealicious http://www.conard-pyle.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=srplants.plantDetail&p

| I'll have to agree that BougainFeelYa is a rotten name, and quite possibly the worst. But I still have a distinct aversion to the name 'Ketchup & Mustard', no matter how descriptive of the rose it may be... It irks my nerves every time I see it, lol. John |

| Aw come one, I think it's funny! I've found quite a bit of humor in some of the names. Honey Dijon was referred to in on line discussions prior to its introduction as "Baby Poop". At one event, Tom Carruth quipped they'd actually considered calling it, "Pamper Me". Now, that's funny! Is BougainFeelYa really any worse than Hydrangelicious? Kim |

| well yeah, it could have been called 'vilestabbingnastiness' (my usual thoughts on bougainvillea (bear in mind, when we see it here in the UK, it is NOT a thing of beauty). |

| I find that I can't buy a rose if I hate the name. These are horrible and ridiculous. I read that a rose can no longer be registered with a name of another plant. I have ramblers called Clematis and Gardenia. I guess Clematisilly would work now a days. |

John, I'm with ya on "ketchup and mustard". My first thought is "hot dog" and then "relish?". I will be interested to see how the "look alines" do. IMHO the original is always better. Hydrangea and phlox are much easier to grow than roses anyway! The new daylily hybrids are ridiculous. And some of the iris? sheesh. If I grew roses I'd name them for constellations, galaxies, horoscope signs, endangered jeweled tree frogs--stuff like that. Maybe name some in Elvish, Gaelic. "Nazcca Lines" would be a cool one. "Mayan Sacrifice", "Area 51" (cause I would grow unusual ones). HA. My sap is rising. If I don't get to see some blooms soon I'm off for a psych eval. Susan |

| I really love my Honey Dijon - and the name gently rolls off the tongue. I think I'd still love it as much if it was named "Baby Poop", but it might be harder to recommend (cough, cough). Pamper Me needs to stay open for a tan/brown rose to come!!! Subconsciously it really took me some work to get past the Ketchup & Mustard name and actually buy the rose, which I really LOVE! But I just think of a diner dive whenever I think of the name. I think for me a bad name can influence my feelings about a rose, no matter how hard I try to fight it. I really dislike the name Fragrant Cloud for that wonderful but very bright orange, "in your face", pungent rose. Something like 'Sock-it-to-um', or "Punchent" - now those names I could see! I'll have to get hybridizing so I can name my own!!! |

| I have more difficulty buying a rose named after a celebrity that I dislike. |

| The name doesn't bother me all that much. My problem is why would I want a rose that didn't look like a rose? If I want a hydrangea I'll buy a hydrangea. When I want a rose I'll buy one that LOOKS like a rose! |

| I too thought Golden Showers was not a good name. Also don't like Happy Butt either (name that is)! |

| I don't like Benson and Hedges for a rose. Passionate Kisses seems over the top to me for a plant. |
