Showbiz?

Yes, I am out purchasing rose bushes almost every other day---Thanks to all you enablers.

Today, I found Showbiz,Granada,Sundowner and two tiny mini (buds are about 3/4" w/ no names. . BEAUTIFUL healthy looking rose bushes... w/ a 1.5 grade.

My questions are: Are the petals on Showbiz ruffled? How does it do when cut for a vase? I haven't found any information that it 'blows' quickly or not.. Thank you all.

I am in different zone than you, but my experience with this rose was not positive. I tried two times with two different plants, two different locations in yard with the same result. they lost all their foliage by mid season.
I have seen it in different stores at the end of season, all bare.

As far as flowers, it was some what ruffled, and lasted a decent amount of time on the bush. I never cut it for inside. Re-bloom was average not too prolific.

I also was disappointed in Showbiz, although the color was stunning. It bloomed in clusters on short, weak stems. Although it was labelled as black spot resistant, it was completely defoliated due to BS within six weeks of first bloom.

I didn't have the blackspot problems with Showbiz, but the blooms do come in clusters on short stems, so it probably wouldn't be great as a cut flower for a vase.

I like mine very much, but I have been told that most Showbiz roses have rose mosaic virus. Mine do, and they start to look pretty sad after the first spring flush and do not bloom well after that. The flowers open wide, they don't blow immediately, but they are not long lasting either. I think there are better red floribunda roses out there- perhaps Lavaglut?

My Showbiz had one startling flush that took your breah away and very little thereafter. Most of the leaves fell due to blackspot and it entered a decline.

I dug mine up. For me it blackspotted and had no stems to it.
It was a puny plant.

oh, goodness! I am wondering if I should just throw it away--not waste the space and energy to even put it in the ground! I potted it up, it has 5 great looking canes and a great root system... I think I might just look around for another rose...suggestions?

I replaced mine with Cinco De Miyo.
