Visit to Eurodesert Roses

Last Friday I had the privilege of visiting Cliff Orent's nursery in Morongo Valley. What a wonderful host he was...a true rose lover with a great passion for the rarest of roses. He spent two hours in the rain walking my mother and I through his greenhouses and talking about all things rose related. I came home with 6 new babies, all of which are hard to find roses. I highly recommend visiting his website, and if you can a personal visit to his nursery....He will be having an open house on Mother's Day and I can't wait to see all his beautiful roses blooming in a desert landscape.

Deron, Oh, how much I wish to do that! We live so far from his nursery, but I would just love to see his roses.

I think that Cliff is one of the most outstanding rosarians we have. His list of contributions to the rose culture is very long and wide.

It is fun just to browse his nursery online.

The link did not turn blue, but that is correct.

Hey Deron, You can't just drop the news that you purchased new roses and then not tell us the names of the ones you got. It's one of the rules around here. ;)

Do you plan to visit on Mother's Day? Are any pictures available for posting?

Cliff is a great guy! He's gone thru a lot to get his nursery up and running, and we all should help him out by purchasing his wonderful roses. I have 15 on order from him, and over the last couple yrs have bought many others. I would love to go see the his nursery in person. I know it's got to be totally breathtaking! Anybody who gets to go there is really lucky! To see all those roses, and to meet the amazing man!

Ahh, sorry for not telling what roses...I came home with:

The 777 Rose
Yann Arthus-Bertrand
Claude Monet
Baptiste Lafaye
Iris Webb
Wild Rover

I will definitely be going on Mother's Day and will post many many pictures. Actually, I hope to make another visit before that :-D

I have to second Deron's comments about Cliff and his great roses. I was in CA on business last year and was able to break away to visit. It was a lovely day and although when I was there not too many of the roses were in bloom, I loved every minuite of my visit. Cliff is a great host. I would very highly recommend anyone living in the area to plan to attend his Mother Day Open house.

I was fortunate in visiting Cliff's place in November. He is a gracious good man. His impassioned service to the rose is equaled by few. Please do go to his web site and order a few roses. He deserves our support.
