Well it sure feels like spring here! I cleaned up my roses and I wanted to whack them so bad! But I was good..I mostly cleaned up old leaves, dead wood..sickly wood..and branches that were crossing and going to be in the way. How about you guys..anyone jumpin the gun like me?

Yes, but no real pruning. One good March frost and the roses will be in a bad way. If you prune around the first of March the roses will be in a much better place to avoid major damage.

Nope I always wait. We could get a late frost and damage that new growth.
That said I know lots of people around here who prune in the Fall.
President's Day is when the Seattle Rose Society recommends.

I wait untl the Forthysia bloom unless a really early warm spell hits and forces them to bloom early, then I wait until mid April in my area. Even Mom Nature can be fooled.
I only want to do it once.

The deal is that this year we are really warm. Many Forthysia are blooming already and so are the flowering cherries!

Not much of a deal if it's followed by a cold snap. You should go by the seasonal averages not by this year's unseasonal weather, especially if it's occuring real early.
For example, a few years ago my forthysia bloomed in mid March due to a very unseasonally warm February. I waited because I knew it was too early to prune. We had a late March cold snap that all but destroyed my early blooming spring plants. I pruned my roses in early April and enjoyed a normal spring bloom.
Take a trip or get a couple of good books. You have plenty of time to get out into the garden.

Well, I couldn't wait either. For my own mental health, I had to do something! So, I pruned the roses in the front. Now, most of my roses are in the back, and I am waiting to prune them because I know it's too early. But it felt so good to be in the garden again! Of course, it is supposed to freeze this weekend, so I may be re-doing the ones in front. But, oh well, I needed that! ;)
