| Had to go to Walmart this evening....as usual, I start in the garden center first. Cant help myself, I always look at the roses to see if there might be a find. Could hardly believe my eyes.....I have been looking for Golden Bouquet ever since I saw it blooming at the Tyler Rose Garden - it was an attention grabber, beautiful yellow, lots of blooms. Been hunting for this one for several years! Then, at the back of the set up, I discovered 2 Moonlight Magic roses - a mauve. This is hard to find and I grabbed them both - a lady was eyeing one and heard her comment to her husband that was the color she was looking for but I already had my hands on the second one and figured she wouldnt really appreciate it anyway.....so home with me it came! Does anyone grow these roses and if so, have any comments on them? I will have to pot them up as my large bed isnt ready - I plan to put the Moonlight Magic where it will get afternoon shade - Texas sun gets brutal, especially last year. Even though they are body bags, they look healthy and I am going to try my best to get them to grow.

Hi Judith! Did any of those 'MM' survive that I sent you a few years ago? I planted several at the same time, but they never flourished and most of them died...they were runty little things. I'm interested to see if yours take off and do any better. When I dug them up, the rootstock was puny and never did grow. -terry

I have Moonlight Magic. It's nothing to write home about. Neptune is a far better mauve on all counts, especially vigor and fragrance. But good luck. She will probably appreciate the shade. I had to go look up Golden Bouquet - that's one I'd never heard of before. A commenter over on HMF whose opinion I trust says it's a Harkness Rose, Princess Alice, renamed. That sounds very interesting, but you have English (read: likes cool) breeding there, so careful with the hot Texas sun.

I have heard that Walmart may offer Micro-Minis, come next Fall. I'm looking forward to that. Jeri

Anyone find anything good at Walmart this season? I was surprised to find a few bagged ones that looked like they might make it -- ended up bringing home: Pristine I planted them last week and am hoping they make it :) Anyone have any of these and have any comments or tips?

I looked a few times, but didn't find anything unique at Walmart for roses. But, I did pick up a handful of day lilies, little dalhias, tulips, misc. annuals, and some really beautiful strawberries.
