| Hi,
I have both but am wondering how often I should apply them and in what order.
I grow around 25 roses, most of which are hardy climbers, including John Davis, William Baffin, Quadra, Viking Queen and Quadra.
Thanks.

| They are similar and you don't need both. Label instructions for both are perhaps over-generous, especially for a northern rose garden. I would apply a cup of either about every two months until late summer. |

| Since you've got both, if it were my garden, I'd use the RoseTone first. If it still has the formula it had several years ago, it contains feathermeal which is a really fast acting (dissolving) source of N that Mills doesn't have. Every so often, I go on a search for a southeastern source for feathermeal. So far I haven't found one for a bulk source, just very expensive small bags. |

A cup each two months seems reasonable. Some folks' notion of fertilizing ends up costing more than the roses. |

| I'm in agreement with everyone here. One cup for large roses and a half or less for mini roses is what I use each spring. I have some Rosetone this year because I won it at my conference but in past years I've used Hollytone too. If you read the labels they're virtually identical and the Hollytone is always cheaper. The minute they put "rose" on the label they figure they can jack the price up! |

| Thank you everyone for your advice. I'm off to feed my roses. :-) Happy rose growing.. |

| I use RoseTone for the first feeding; you can just pull the mulch back and apply it, then replace the mulch. Mills Magic really needs to be scratched in and I use it for 2nd feeding about 6 weeks later. |

You don't have to scratch in Mills Magic or RoseTone. I use one of them once in spring (whatever I have on hand) and never scratch it in. It works :) Olga |

| Oh, I don't bother to scratch in much either. It all melts down into the soil anyway. |
