| I checked the search for this info, but did not find any questions about planting roses with a shaft that is nearly 12 inches long before you reach the bud union. Is it safe for the bud union to be high above ground? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I received these roses from S&W yesterday and they are Sunsprite. I live in zone 7, GA
Thanks. |

| Tree or standard roses have their bud unions 3 or 4 feet above the ground, so I don't think you need to worry about that. I'm not in your zone, so I can't offer any other info. If I got such a rose, (I love experimenting!), I would plant it at the same level it is in the pot and see what happens. Jackie |

| Thanks Jackie, I was wondering if the occational freeze in Georgia would affect the growth of the plant since it is not a standard. Lois |

| You could always underplant with something tall. If you wanted to try laying it horizontally, you might get it to own root in a mound of soil placed over the bud union. Maybe staking it is the way to go. You could always plant another of the same rose at the base to hide the long stalk. |
