I was wondering if anybody out there has grown this rose or knows any info on this rose. Help me find roses list it as a sport of America but in the discussions it is being questioned as they say the flowers are more cupped ? ect.
Would love to see pictures of this if anybody has it.
Thank you

RE: Climbing rose Royal America

I think that might have been me on HMF. I did buy a body bagged 'Royal America'. I also had Cl. America. Growth habits were identical, but in my yard the flowers were not. Most likely explanation is that I had a mislabelled rose, a hazard of buying body bags, as we all know. (sigh). My whatever it was did have cupped shaped ivory colored flowers. I never did do a side by side comparison of leaves and stems, and I did not have the two bushes growing side by side. If you have a chance to obtain a Royal America, which I think has become quite rare, please don't let anything I say disuade you. Cl. America is so fine a cultivar, I think the sports must be very good also.

There are quite a few photos of Royal America on HMF as well as many of the pink sport, Pearly Gates. You should be able to see what both are like quite well there. Flower shape can easily vary in sports. Being more cupped than the original isn't "proof" one way or the other. Kim
