pruning floribundas

need info on how to prune floribundas. I get along with HT and GF OK but need advice on others. Thanks. Pembroke

You prune them pretty much the same way as the HTs. Take out dead wood, damaged, crossing and spindly canes and then cut them back for height and shape.

our local council uses hedge trimmers. I don't, but only because the flat-topped look seems a bit unnatural, at least for a few weeks. However, just cut away, as Seil has said; all the 'D's - dead, dying, diseased or dodgy.

It is easy, Pembroke! Garden centers make a big deal out of rose pruning, not because it is difficult, but because they want to get you into their store to buy something.

As campanula said, Dead, diseased, dodgy, and go lightly until you feel confident. You can always take a little more off, but you can't glue it back on! :)

They grow pretty pruned if you think in the shape of an umbrella. My neighbor does hers as an HT and over time it's gotten to where only the top half blooms she's cut so much off the sides. just mho and it works for me well:)
