O.K., I caved...I gave in....I could not help myself...and I know better!! I started pruning today. My roses were totally leafed out..forsithia in full yellow bloom, 82 degrees and I just, caved. Time will tell. I have 150 roses and I just had too!! so, I don`t even take my own advise. I`m pathetic. But, it felt so...good.anyone else out there give in? Sorry, Karl !!!!......Lesley

LOL...yes, I gave in last weekend too! Of course I'm in a warmer zone :) I keep trying to convince myself that this is just a warm spell...but I really think its here to stay! Tammy

Yes, I caved in today also. Some of my roses had 3 inches of new growth. Pulled the mounds away and found 6 inch white sprouts.

I haven't pruned yet but I did take the leaves off the tops of the pots Tuesday. My district rose conference is this weekend and we're hosting it so I've been busy. Otherwise I know I'd be out there, lol! You can't fight Mother Nature and she seems to be saying it's spring so I guess we'll all just have to roll with it. By all predictions this warm weather isn't going away soon. So come Monday I'll be out there pruning too.

Guilty here also! Unless someone can figure out how to stop my roses from growing by leaps and bounds, they need to be pruned right now! I know in the past we've had hard overnight freezes in April, but postponing the pruning now will do nothing to protect the roses from a late freeze--so might as well go with nature and prune away. So much fun! Kate

Kate I prune my roses in the fall so I can focus on cutting down the pampass grass in the spring, all eight very large patches.

Yes, I pruned (and sprayed fungicide) last weekend, too. I feel sure we will have another freeze but felt like there was too much growth to ignore.

I was outside yesterday looking at roses and they are all leafed out with green stems. By pruning now (I like to keep mine small), will I be doing any damage? I would like to go outside tommorrow and cut them down.
