| has a long list of roses, mostly HTs and floribundas at prices below $10. Some are older HTs which are becomming rare. Mirandy for example, and Crimson Glory.
Has anyone ordered roses from them? My climate, zone 5a, is not very forgiving, so I don't want plants which are going to arrive dry and I don't want virus if possible. |

| Probably an alias for Summerstone, based on that location -- stay away. |
|
| I'll try to look both of these up the next time we drive through McMinnville. (It's on our way to our sailboat.) McMinnville has a huge number of nurseries and some are well regarded by plant specialists. Some aren't. But please don't paint all folks with a McMinnville address according to geographic proximity to the lesser growers. |

| Okay -- I double checked it. Looks like the same company, new name, to me: Convinced? |
|
| Hmmmm.... interesting. I see they require a minimum $62.50 order for the Pacific Coast states! Kind of an odd number for a minimum. |
|
| The two companies and their online sites to seem to be one and the same. Who and what is Summerstone? I gather this is a case of getting what you pay for? |

| A rose company that sent me a whole box of dead roses the year before last. I complained and complained and complained incessantly for a year, and they eventually sent me another set of roses, this year -- a full year after they charged my credit card. However, based on the comments I have read on GardenWatchdog, this is the exception rather than the rule -- usually you do NOT get replacement roses. And nothing I could say could get a refund posted to my credit card, which was my first choice, before a new batch of roses. No -- this is not a case of getting what you pay for -- it's a case of getting less than you pay for. I knew there were issues when I ordered, but they were the only source for two roses I wanted -- Gypsy Carnival and Whiskey Mac. |

| Kstrong, Would you send a copy of the correspondence to the Tennessee state Agriculture people. It IS against the law in Tennessee to sell dead plants. Any idea what other names they might be using? |

| Did that anntn6b, and found out there was already a lawsuit underway. I got nothing back from the DA's office in Tennessee, except a letter telling me they were already suing them, and that the TN AG was not pursuing damages for individual consumers. (I was more than a little ticked off at this company.) Another name they use sometimes is Autumn Ridge. Here's the link to the lawsuit -- looks like it has stalled due to bankruptcy proceedings. |
Here is a link that might be useful: TN AG's suit against this company

| Thanks for that warning, kstrong. Very informative! |
|
| Thank you for the responses. I was thinking of ordering as $7.95 for Evelyn sounds too good to be true, which it apparently is too good to be true. Garden watchdog shows a lot of negative reviews. |

| The state Attorney General is one venue; I should have been more specific in asking you to contact the state agricultural inspectors. They are the ones that inspect crops and are charged with making sure that the vendors are selling live, correct-to-name plants. There is at least one in charge of inspecting McMinn plant growers. With the number of growers over there, there may be more than one. I can't find my decade old list; but it would be another way to give them problems. |
