| I have been away from the Rose Forum for a long time and glad to be back. See some familiar names of many years!
My question: What is considered the best place to order roses? it has been over 7 years since I have ordered via mail. Thanks for your suggestions! Lilly |

| Lilly, In Virginia, you have a lot of choices of nurseries close to you. I think they're all good choices, so it depends on whether these vendors have the roses you want. I'm guessing you want own-root since it's getting a little on in the season for bareroots? Roses Unlimited in South Carolina These are good good nurseries, I think. There are more, I'm sure, but these are just the ones I thought of first. Welcome back to rose growing! What are you wanting to grow?? |
Here is a link that might be useful: Hartwood Roses
|
| And for grafted roses, Pickering and Palatine in Ontario. It's not too late for bareroots. I get most of mine from Roses Unlimited and Pickering. |
|
| Try Witherspoon in NC. The best roses I've ever grown. The plants themselves have big, thick canes. The staff there is wonderful and always willing to help. |

| oops missed the question about what I want to grow.....I have a wonderful " Collette" that a fellow Forum rose grower sent and it is GIGANTIC....would like another...years ago I planed " Kent" a great white floribunda ...hoping to find a source for that.... I have several roses that are going on 10 years and blooming well, very good size, good for zone 7... wanting to get some more of these...William Baffin, Carefree Wonder...Betty Prior.....My Pet....Jean La joie...Tropicana....the Prince... and a invincible sweet heart rose I cannot name. Grew many, many finicky roses for a few years that did not persist when I got distracted fromo babying them...have some more time....looking forward to going on a rose spree for purple and white roses and cooking up a batch of alfalfa tea this spring... |
