I've always thought that 'Joseph's Coat' was a climbing rose. Yesterday a stopped at someone's house because of the stunning rose bush in their front yard, and they IDed it as a 'Coat of Many Colors'. It did not appear to have any climbing tendencies at ALL---it was a nice, large, rounded shrub..What is this, really, and how should I best root the cuttings he gave me?

Coat of Many Colors is a 2008 miniflora by Verlie Wells and does not climb. Joseph's Coat is a 1964 climber by David Armstrong. There is a newer climber (2006) by Tom Carruth that's supposed to be an improvement on Joseph's Coat called Jacob's Robe.

Well, this most definitely isn't a mini-anything. (*grin*) The flowers are HUGE, very fragrant, and the bush itself was about six feet tall.
