Free roses or at least cuttings.

If you are in the Santa Cruz, CA area, there is a community garden closing in Capitola. Everything will be bulldozed April 30th.

I went there on Sunday and got a bunch of cuttings of a old white rose and a red HT. If you want to try to dig up the whole bush you are welcome to it. I couldn't dig that big of a bush. I posted the roses on the Rose ID board. See link below.

There are also lots of other plants you can dig up. I got some celery plants, 2 kinds of mint, borage, unknown veggie or herb, tree dahlia roots and cuttings, rose cuttings. And some bulbs with iris or glad type leaves but the bulbs don't look like those. There are still morning glories, passion vines, nastirium (sp?), mint, borage, comfrey, cilantro, chili peppers, fennel, heirloom roses and more....

Wow - thanks for the info! Too bad - what is happening to the site?

I think they are building another pre-school. This is after closing a bunch of schools and laying off teachers. Go figure. Clare
