| Hello,
I'm wondering which rose cultivar has the largest hips? I'm looking to grow some and would like to grow them for not only the flowers but the delicious hips. I've harvested plenty of fat hips from some unknown rugosas but I'm wondering which cultivar would be best for fruit production. Thanks,
PS- Here are a couple pics of the large rugosas I've harvested (I don't have small hands). The first pic is the gallon jar of rose hip honey we made. |

| The rugosas are some of the best producers of hips. Don't know about the taste though. Have you found a difference in taste among the varieties? |

| I understand that the pomifera roses, Rosa villosa and its desendants, have the largest hips, but I don't know how productive they are since the one I have, Duplex, is just new this year. I do know they are mostly non-remontant, so rugosas are probably more productive. |

| I've tasted the hips of the rugosas and I like them. They are pretty meaty and the flavor is not as tangy as some of the smaller fruited varieties I've tasted. I've eaten rugosas right off the bush and they have a pleasant taste, hard to describe. |

| KSG, I found some images of Rosa villosa and most pics look nice. Some, like of duplex, have spikey hips. Hmmm, for eating I'd prefer smooth hips. Pics of apple rose look good. |
