Creme de la Creme

Does anyone grow this climber by Gandy? I have one in a band pot from Vintage (via Eurodesert). I'm trying to figure out how or where to place it.

It seems to have stiff canes and wonder if it would do well as a shrub. Any observations or opinions about its vigor, growth or blooming? I noticed several vendors are carrying it, so maybe it is a good rose.

I actually met Mr Gandy - a lovely man, already in his 90's when this rose came out (although he claimed to be 21). It has been doing the rounds in the UK for a good while now and is proving to be something of a classic. Yep, it is a very stiff rose and will be no use on a pillar and would be iffy as a large freestanding thing (A bit brittle) - would grow it against a wall (and it is not too needy for sun, may even do well on a north wall). You could grow it freestanding with some sort of half support system around the base (it will get bare legs too as it is fairly upright). A very refined bloom (and not altogether to my taste for wilder looking roses).

Oh, thanks a lot, Campanula. That helps a great deal! Just what I wanted to know.
