Planting rose that came in a 3 by 6' pot.

I ordered a rose and it came in this little bitty tube like thing. Do I plant the same way as a regular potted rose?

I think those are what they call "rose plugs" now. I would start it in a gallon size pot for a while and work up from there until it gets big enough to plant. Depending on how fast it grows you may have to keep it in a pot until next year before planting it in the ground.

I think you meant 3 by 6" Pot, not 3 by 6' pot?
"= inch '= foot
I usually plant bands, as they're called, in a one gallon pot so the root system can develop better then move up to a larger pot before sticking in the ground.

Many say they plant bands directly into the ground and have good luck but I have good luck doing it as described.
Rabbits enjoy the rose salad from the tender bands or it's often forgotten about.

Or, Karl, my DH accidentally weed-whacks them.

We don't dare put them into the ground until they look like rose plants.

Oh, Jeri, tell me it isn't so, lol! He would be the last person I would ever imagine doing such a thing. He's a rose nut!

Yes, but when he is weed-whacking, ANYTHING can happen. (And has!)

He is, himself, aware of this, so he wants 'em well-grown in a 5-G before they go out there in jeopardy. :-)

they get trodden on too (by me) - anything smaller than a foot stays in a pot for a year (or two).

I put my bands directly in the ground, esp if they are hardened off. But I don't have a husband. A friend's father, helpfully mowing because she was on a hard stint at work, just weed-whacker her babies. Something about men and machines.

If I get bands with brand new tender roots, I leave them in the bands for a few more weeks. I set them on the front porch, where I can see them every time I walk out the door and can remember to water them.

I'm a relatively new rose-grower so please take my experience with a grain of salt. I only have experience planting bands because I've so far only purchased roses online and I try to save money by buying smaller plants. Also a lot of harder-to-find older varieties are only available as bands, it seems. I've been astounded by how fast roses will grow--over the last 2 years I've planted ten roses that were purchased as bands. I planted all of them in April. In every case, by midsummer I had 3-4 foot tall roses. I see no reason to up-pot into containers, especially since I find keeping sun-loving plants healthy and hydrated in pots a real chore in my area's hot summers. Just plant in the ground and put out some bright-orange landscape flags if "men with machines" are present, LOL.

I put my bands in 5g pots, and later found that I should have gone with a 1g instead.

BUT this past week has been very dramatic and it looks like my day job is going to take up a ton of random unscheduled time for the next few months. I am not glad that the bands are in big enough pots to hold more moisture in case I get so swamped I forget to check them for a day...or three.

This is what I love about roses! Everyone has their own way of doing it and they all seem to work. Who says roses are hard to grow!
