I have a few roses, most that are new to me, planted last fall. Everything here fared well with lots of snow cover for protection, Yippee!
I have a good sized shrub rose in a pot, in my garage, already sprouting. Can I prune it, give it some shaping now?
Also, some knockouts, one several yrs old, all stems have some green, no growth yet. Do I prune back now, and how much? My neighbor says she's going to prune all her roses back severely, is that the norm?
In the past, I've waited and pruned dead canes only, is that acceptable, especially on some I haven't identified yet?
