Pink Mystery Climber...

This is a cross post from the "Name That Rose" forum...I just know that this forum gets a lot more traffic, and I'm really curious :)

I purchased this rose at Home Depot last year as a body bag rose, and it was suppossed to be Adalaide Hoodless...which is obviously incorrect. In fact, I'm glad it was mislabeled because I love the rose it ended up being! Only thing is, I have no idea what rose it is. Last year a couple of people suggessted America, but all the pictures I've seen of America are much more salmon-pink, while my rose is a true hot pink!
Its definetely a climber, blooms in flushes, no real scent that I can detect...here's a couple of pics :)

They may have meant Cl. American Beauty, which is a hot pink. I'll put a link below to the first page of HMF photos of that one.

See if you think it looks like yours:

Thanks petaloid...the pictures of CL American Beauty look REALLY close to my mystery climber, except mine repeats and HMF says CL AB is once-blooming... :(

I grew a Cl. American Beauty collected from a very old plant in Beulah, Colorado many years ago. It's the one Sequoia sold for a number of years and the one Ashdown sold. It could repeat once established and when spring was long and fairly stable. When it ended abruptly with the high heat beginning over night, it stopped flowering. If yours is happy and the climate is right, it could well be the right rose. Kim

I grow Cl American Beauty and I don't think your rose is CAB.
CAB has very strong fragrance and the shape of blooms is different. Leaves are also wrong for CAB. Nice rose, but not CAB.

I agree with Olga - I grow CAB, and although the color looks right, the open bloom shape is completely different, and the leaves don't look like CAB either. Is your rose fragrant? My CAB is extremely fragrant. Here is a picture of my CAB:

Jackie's CAB looks exactly like my CAB. One of my very favorites climbers.

Tammy - I just thought of another difference between CAB and your rose. CAB's blooms nod, and the blooms on your rose appear to be held very upright on strong stems.

You said you purchased it at Home Depot - perhaps it is a much more modern rose - perhaps a floribunda of some sort? Maybe if you look on the Home Depot web site they will list the roses they sell, and you can start from there?

I agree...It looks like CL AB's leaves are much more leathery and the blooms tend to nod more...

Parade?

No, not Parade too. Parade flowers have different shape, no white in the center and Parade leaves remind you instantly of its New Dawn parent.
