How funny..I have a Starry Night in a pot..it get's half a day sun and usually is covered in BS. I decided to take it out of the pot. So I cut it down to the bottom and got busy and neglected to take it out. Needless to say it grew insane..looks great and not one BS.

I just hard pruned Madame Alfred Carriere for blackspot and cane die-back, all 24 feet of her....I hope she responds this way. My pergola looks very bare without her.

I got sick of my Nancy Hayward climbing rose that hardly ever flowered despite supposedly being an ever bloomer. I hacked it back to less than a metre and got ready to dig it out of the ground and unload it on a friend who doesn't mind flowerless garden thugs. This morning I noticed a whole lot of flower buds on it. I don't know what I did right.
