| This is the first rose I've ever planted, Austin's 'Harlow Carr'. It was planted this spring and it has been slow to get going and is still quite tiny. The weather has been cool and wet. Now the weather is warming and it's getting brown leaf edges. What should I do?

My guess is ammonium toxicity from too much nitrogen fertilizer. I'd give a heavy watering.

To me it looks like cold/frost damage. Our weather was similar to yours and we had a short hot spell and then a long cold one. Now I have some of those crispy leaves too.

Yes, it could be freeze damage if temperatures of -2 C have occurred since it was planted. I currently have one rose that was nipped a few weeks ago, and it looks quite similar.

Has it been sprayed with anything? It sorta looks like the leaves were damaged where liquid gathered. Jeri

There was one night of light frost a couple of weeks ago - perhaps that caused it. I'll keep my eyes peeled and hope it doesn't spread. Thanks for your input.

Def. cold damage from extreme temp changes this spring. Plant will be okay-new growth should come in fine.
