Powdery Mildew

I have had powdery mildew once. I used the oil formula last time. What is good to use for this? I'm afraid to use an oil when the sun is so concentrated.

Thanks,
Carla

I have some powdery mildew on some of the bands i got this year. some people use milk. I wouldn't use oils either, you might as well just blow torch them off. i don't do anything.

Carla,I have used a heaping Tablespoon of Baking soda and a little liquid dish soap to a gal. of water before and it worked for me.haven't had PM for a few years, but noticed I now have it on 4 roses,so I will mix up some and spray mine, too...I clipped a article out of a magazine awhile back that said to use Listerine and water, half and half and that works, but I have not tried that.I have PM on my new double knockout and a mini rose,so I will be using the baking soda and water.

Or just wait for warmer nights and a little rain.

I thought I read somewhere here that Immunox is for Powdery Mildew (or was that for Downy Mildew??) . Anyway, for the first time ever I have several new minis that have what I think is powdery mildew so I sprayed with Immunox after trying unsuccessfully to get rid of it with some Jojoba oil. If it's still lingering I'm going to try the baking soda.

Here's a new mildew remedy that I learned about at the Rose Society meeting this past Sunday -- Lysol. One of our Master Rosarians swears by it. She said to only use the brown bottle of concentrate, diluted 1 to 2 tablespoons per gallon of water. Makes sense, I guess. I figured I'd go out to Food Lion and get myself a bottle and give it a try. Heck, if it doesn't work, I guess could always use it to clean the bathroom.

that's a pretty strong dose of Lysol in the concentrate form. I only use 1 T for a gallon of water to clean the porcelain throne.
