Half graft

After our bitterly cold winter, a large Ilse Krohn Superior bush, normally with an ivory white bloom, now has profuse single pink blooms on over half the plant. I assume this is root stock? Funny thing is, the pink blooms are on very thick old canes, and I've never had these pink blooms before. I assumed that the root stock flowers would show up on new canes. There are still some of the white grafted blooms, but not many. If I I attack and remove these pink-blooming canes vigorously, do I have a chance of reclaiming the Ilse Krohn blossoms, or should I be considering replacement?
