Yes, Interplant from Holland but they introduced them in Japan and I took the pictures from a Japanese website because I live in Japan now. The price is 5000 yen for one rose plant. They flower from spring to autumn.

Much less pricey alternatives are those bred by Ralph Moore of Sequoia Nursery in California.
I don't know who will be offering his, as his nursery just closed, but there is interest out there in the hybridizing of them as well.
Jack Harkness in England was the first to produce hulthemia hybrids; this interesting rose (which also goes by the name Hulthemia persica or even Rosa berberifolia)is being actively worked with by amateurs as well as by the pros at Interplant.
Supposedly to be a rose, a plant should gave stipules at the base of each leaf, and R. persica does not.

Yes, I know about the Harkness hulthemia hybrids. But it is interesting for me to know if the hulthemia does not have these stipules, why is it classified as a rose? very confusing.

Some recent genetic testing using certain markers - - and that's the rub, which markers are chosen - - led the researchers to conclude that Rosa persica is, in fact, not in a separate subgenus at all, and should be collapsed into the subgenus Rosa.

May I ask, bgrose, if the keiseirose.co.jp website lists the Interplant breeder code names of these three roses?

Do these Interplant roses repeat? My understanding is that the Ralph Moore ones don't really repeat.

Hershigirl, yes, all of these roses repeat and I think that is why they are so expensive.

Berndoodle, the codes are not listed on the keisei page. It is written that the registration of the rose is in proceeding. It is also written that these roses will be sold only from October this year but customers can reserve the roses from now. The funny thing is that these roses announced in 2008 are listed in the section Old roses :)
