Hedge rose, Rogusa?

Posted by dolzadell 7 (My Page) on

I am looking for some information about a hedge rose, I believe is spelled Rogusa? I have a semi shaded area and want a barrier between me and a neighbors ugly car port.

If anyone has these in their yard with pics I would sure appreciate seeing them so I can see what I will eventually have or if anyone has experienced a problem or benefit let me know.

Thanks everyone,

RE: Hedge rose, Rogusa?

Rugosa roses are good for part shade, and most of them will make nice big hips. They have LOTS of thorns, which in your case might be a good thing.

There are many kinds of rugosas. Here are some examples:
Hansa rugosa rose
Blanc Double de Coubert rose
Jens Munk rose

Rugosa roses grow great where I live, in the Pacific Northwest, but I hear they don't do so well in some parts of the country. Where do you live?
