Does anyone know if climbing Iceberg is as shade tolerant as regular iceberg?

Or how fast growing it is?

At 2 years and 2 months old our Cl Iceberg covers an 8' arch and the spring bloom was much better than last year. Purchased as 1 gal. own root from Chamblee's

As far as shade tolerance goes it seems the same as the bush. This location gets over 6 hours of sun during spring and summer but slightly less during late fall and winter.

That is so beautiful. Climbers are supposed to take three years before they put on much of a show but yours is obviously way ahead of schedule. You must be so pleased!

Thank you for the photo!

I can get a 5g down south

Still have issues with the fine neighbors.... And am rather desperate to loose them behind thorns

Yes ma'am, you can expect the same shade performance from the climbing form as you can the bush. Sally Holmes is another with virtually the same shade tolerance, too, and should be as readily available as Cl. Iceberg. The nice thing about her is those massive clusters of flowers cover a LOT of sins and she has some pretty massive prickles in comparison to Cl. Iceberg. Kim

The other thing I love about Cl Iceberg, unlike some climbing sports of bushes, is the speed and amount of re-bloom. Mine is well into its second flush since the first one started in late March, and the amount of bloom is the same as the first one. It blooms like that all summer - hardly ever out of bloom.

Another very shade tolerant fast growing rose bush is MAC - if you grow it you know. If you don't grow it you might want to try it between yourself and your neighbors - mine are all growing in partial shade, and bloom and grow happily.

My mom has a Cl. Iceberg along a wall several feet behind a 10' Pittosporum tenuifolium that does well despite strong shading. The blooms often take on pink hues in the shade which is nice. It does bloom reliably and regularly even though it probably gets about 4.5 to 5 hours of sun a day. No disease issues despite the location.

Here's a link to a photo of it I put on instagram not too long ago.

I grew Cl. Iceberg at my previous home. There it received 4.5 hours of sun from about 10:30 until about 3. It was healthy and very floriferous when in bloom.

Leezen, are those electrical conduits you are using with your roses?

Bet I could make some quick tripods with those for a second row of roses that need a bit more sun...hmmm
