Congratulations on your soon-to-be retirement, hope you enjoy!

I retired about a year ago and love it; after working 50 years wouldn't go back unless I absolutely had to...

Ogrose, what a wonderfully nice message to receive. Yes, as of June 1, I will be fully retired, and I'm ready for it. Last Xmas holidays, I still had mixed feeling about the whole thing, but the past few months, I find I just don't feel like pushing myself to accomplish more and more--like I used to. I'm ready to relax--although my son, looking over the 8 roses I planted the past few weeks, isn't so sure I know what "take it easy" means. LOL

I'm so glad to hear retirement is working out well for you. That is encouraging, and I hope to report in about a year, that I just love being a full-time gardener from now on!

Thanks again for the thought.

Kate

Well, congratulations from me as well on your retirement! Now you have even more time to spend with the roses, so we'll expect to see some more pictures from you to tempt us this summer! Particularly of your namesake red rose...

Thank you for your encouraging messages. Funny thing--the weeds don't disappear any faster even though I have more time now. Hmmm--must be all the picture-taking I'm indulging in. Oh well, that is lots more fun than weeding is!

Congratulations, Kate! I have regretted retirement on single moment! I'll warn you though. It won't take long before you'll be thinking, "how did I do all this and work full time too?"

Seil is exactly right! I just can't believe how fast the weeks go by, and I wonder how I did it all - plus the fact that my son and 3 kids (2 are autistic) ages 2, 5 and 8 lived with us for 5 years while he got his life settled, ended up marrying a wonderful gal and they're gone, yes!! I am not a kid lover for sure, but these kids became my darlings, (and boy, do they know it). 6 people do not fit in 1500 square feet for sure, but somehow we made it work, and even had our weekly "candlelight" dinners on Monday night when we had spaghetti, and actually had a lot of fun as well as building great relationships. These kids now go to the 14th best school in the US, now we'll work on college!!

Retirement is great, but I've become so lazy, how did I ever do it all??
