Physan 20

I was just wondering if anyone has used Physan 20 on their roses? I use it for my orchids and think it might be beneficial to use on my roses (ordered my first earlier this week and should be coming shortly).

I don't see how it would benefit roses.

Disinfectants can be useful in the greenhouse, but have hardly any effect on diseases in the garden--they break down too quickly.

I used to use it in my fountain for algae control, but it wasn't particularly effective. There are more appropriate products for roses--what is it you want to achieve?

RE: Physan 20

Physan 20 contains a mixture of trialkylammonium chlorides, essentially the same disinfectant that's in Lysol brand household surface cleaner which is available in most grocery stores. I remember several people on the rose forum from years back who reported some success in spraying with the Lysol product to treat blackspot but I don't think anyone got too excited about their results. The Lysol product is about 1% active ingredient compared to 20% for Physan 20 and a quart of the Lysol product cost about $2 here compared to about $15 for a quart of Physan, making the Physan product a lot cheaper to use.
