Want to see something neat?

A gentleman from Japan posted this photo on Face Book. It's called Fire Ruffles, bred by Ilsink from The Netherlands. It was bred from the Ruffles series. I am fairly certain the line was bred from Roger Lambelin, as Art Nouveau has been, as evidenced by the appearance of several of the other Ruffles series. Neat novelty, isn't it? Kim

That's a rose bloom? Can't make up my mind about it. On the one hand it reminds me somewhat of what a bloom with RRV looks like when trying to open, on the other, it's a pretty color. Thanks for posting it. Interesting to see where others are going in the hybridizing biz..........Maryl

Kinda looks like a chyrsanthemum or maybe a marigold? I do like the color and the red tips.

That is a rose? I could have sworn it was a mum!

Nice "autumn" colors like mums often have.

I thought chrysanthemum too. That is neat!

It's interesting, but not something I'd personally find appealing. To each his/her own.

I'm with AquaEyes. Interesting but not compelling. Now discovering the genetic key to making rose foliage disease-free...that I'd be knocking down doors for...

Reminds me of the Green Rose that is all sepals.

RE: Want to see something neat?

That is really fascinating, do you know what the buds look like?

 o
RE: Want to see something neat?

No, unfortunately I don't. It's not on HMF and I haven't Googled it to see what I could find yet. Kim

RE: Want to see something neat?

I haven't found more information searching the Web, but a second photo has been posted. It reminds me of a more extreme variation of the old Sunny Today. Kim

Isn't that interesting? I'd love to see this idea expanded.

RE: Want to see something neat?

That's why I'm searching for the Ruffles series, Pamela. I have several things I want to use with them in hopes of mining that vein. This is a Pretty Lady X Art Nouveau seedling I particularly enjoy. Kim

RE: Want to see something neat?

My rose Serratipetala opened today, Kim, and it reminded me of your chrysanthemum rose.

 o
RE: Want to see something neat?

That is the classic image of what Serratipetala SHOULD look like. That's a gorgeous shot! I hope you post it to Help Me Find, please? If I could have experienced that flower here, it would have hung around. Another seedling opened I want to use with the ruffles. It resulted from Art Nouveau X Blue for You, though you wouldn't think that to see it. Really not bad for opening on a nearly hundred degree day. Kim

RE: Want to see something neat?

That is an interesting cross and a very neat little rose. I wonder what it will do with a couple years behind it.

Not bad indeed for a hundred degree day. We are already in the 90s but it's supposed to cool off for the weekend.

 o
RE: Want to see something neat?

Thank you! I'm glad you're supposed to cool for the weekend. We are here, too (HOPEFULLY!). Kim
