| how deep and wide should i make a hole for a climbing rose if all the soil in the area i'm planting it in is hard clay soil |

| Hrose, it sure would help to know what zone you are in. Roses grow to different sizes in different areas of the country. |

| i'm in zone 5 there's a house down the street that's got climbers that are about 9 feet high...there's two of them and they are about 7 feet apart...mine will be too close to each other...think i just answered my own question lol...but will this effect the growth in anyway? i think they will just be more lush more plants=more blooms...no? |

| Coral Dawn and Ilse Krohn Superior should be just fine for you in zone 5. Not so much here in my zone 4 where they end up short shrubs. As to Don Juan, I can't tell you how many people have cried to me about their DJ (in zone 5) dying over the winter. They love the blooms and they don't read up on its (lack of) hardiness before they buy. Just trying to save you some grief. |
