Yellow leaves on double knockout rose tree

I planted 2 double knockout rose trees on Mother's day. Today I noticed one had severe yellowing of the leaves and the blooms had wilted. The other tree had the same symptoms, but less severe. I dug the hole 3 times the size of the pot (5 gallon) and planted them in an equal mixture of compost, soil conditioner, and top soil. The surrounding soil is clay with approximately 3 inches of mulch. The trees get about a half day of sun and we have had a mild spring (cool mornings and evenings, warm days, low humidity, and occasional rain). Additionally, I have newly installed sod which has been watered frequently and each tree is near a sprinkler head. The mulch stays relatively moist and the tree with more severe symptoms is in slightly wetter conditions. Are the trees getting too much water? If so, will they recover or am I destined to use my plant warranty? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
