 o
Iceberg question

I finally got around to putting the "test" Iceberg 1g from Home Depot in the ground today. Test because I was testing the chickens, not the rose, wanted to make sure they did not eat it.

I noticed that it did not appear to have have the usual graft to Doctor Huey like on the rest of the roses I have. Could it be own root or just planted really deep in the pot?

It could be either. It depends upon what the original source of the plant is. Some are now producing Iceberg own root, while others continue to bud it. J&P was offering many Icebergs own root in their latter years. Kim

My neigbor's chickens ate every bud from my new climbing iceberg. Good luck!

Ratdog, I had asked on the chicken forum too. I hear they really like the red new growth on some roses too but that they pretty much leave them alone. Our chickens have a pretty big zone to range and I just dug "the lower 40" making some berms and walks, so they have plenty of fresh dirt to rearrange, make new ankle buster pot holes and ruin my couple weeks of work....hoping the Iceberg is not as interesting.

the iceberg 1 gals I've seen at HD have been consistently own-roots.

RE: Iceberg question

I live near J&P and they've had Iceberg roses very reasonable during the past two weeks. I love mine and it's always in bloom without a lot of care.
