The chafers have arrived and are going after my roses - particularly the fragrant ones. Also going after other fragrant flowers like the white peony. They come in pairs and mate for about two weeks while they are chewing up the flowers and foliage. I'm going to start knocking them into a pail. Should I use soapy water or something else? The more bugs I interrupt in the mating season the better.
