| I live in North Georgia, where it last rained a few days ago, and has been rather hot since. I have a rose bush. I'm unsure what's wrong with the leaves, though the flower looks rather red. I'm not sure if it's bugs, a disease, or something else! Please tell me what to do!

| The holes are from feeding by rose slugs, which are green worms, sawfly larvae, hiding on the underside of the leaves. The white spots are also from rose slugs eating off the bottom surface of the leaves while leaving the upper cuticle. Since you have only one rose, you can control these by inspecting the underside of each damaged leaflet and wiping them off with your thumb. If you don't see any worms, it's because wasps have picked them off for you. The black spots and dying leaves are from black spot disease. The spread of black spot can be checked with routine use of a fungicide. I use Bayer Disease Control (tebuconazole) in a tank sprayer. With only one rose you might want to try a RTU product such as Safer's with sulfur or Bayer Natria. These are safe to handle and convenient, but not as effective. |

| I spray Spinosad on our roses every 15 days to control roseslugs. Tops and undersides of leaves and follow directions. Rose slugs last from May to October here. Some areas they do not last as long. OR hand pick them off the underside of the leaves. |
