New to roses... what's wrong here

Hello all...
I am an apartment dweller and have been searching for the perfect plant that I can enjoy in a container on my very small outdoor area. I settled on a rose after much internet research because of their beauty and long blooming season. After snooping around on forums and learning about David Austin's roses, I purchased Sister Elizabeth, own-root, from Heirloom Roses, which is supposed to do well in a container and rebloom. I just potted this thing Monday morning. This is my FIRST rose ever. The very next morning, some 24 hours later, I noticed that some of the leaves are fading in the center and dark around the edges (see photo). The leaves are healthy otherwise... no withering. The leaves were uniformly green when I removed it from its packaging. The rose has only been potted up for a bit over 48 hours now and it appears healthy. It had some new growth starting and it has continued to open up. I am "hoping" that this is just transplant shock of some sort, as the plant went from a greenhouse in Oregon to a pot in 92 degree full sun in zone 7b (or some say 8... I live near Memphis, TN). I have since moved the plant into the shelter under my patio until I find out for sure what is causing the leaves to fade. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to kill my new baby!

That is sunburn caused by water shortage-- from disturbing the roots while transplanting and from the harsher environment (as you describe). Fertilizing can also contribute to this by making it harder for the plant to take up water. Put it in mostly-shade and gradually increase the exposure over a few weeks. The discolored areas will die, but the plant should be OK.

That makes me feel somewhat better. I had fears about planting so late in such hot weather but my excitement got the better of me and I just couldn't wait until the fall to purchase and plant. The rose is nice and cool on my covered patio area and I have watered it well this morning. Hopefully I can keep it alive for the rest of the growing season. Thanks for the reply!
