Planting my Tamora band from Rogue Valley

I just received my Tamora band from Rogue Valley, and though their instructions for planting are good, I still seem to have questions. I read through roseshouter's 'band murderer' thread, and of course there are differing opinions. My question is for those of you in hot, humid climates like mine. I feel like it's a bit hot out for planting directly into the ground (not to mention the direct morning sun until noon that Tamora's spot gets). Rogue Valley waits to ship until the "right time" for your zone, from what I understand, so presumably it's a good time to plant. The directions for planting don't really address the climate, but they do say to say to plant in a "well-protected" area of the garden. Does anyone know if this means protection from sun, wind, critters, etc?

Ingrid, I saw your technique about starting the moist band in shade and gradually moving it to sun, then planting. Do you use this method this late in the season? Do you ever put a shade cover over the new band in the ground?

I'm scared to plant! I don't want to kill the poor thing, but I'm afraid of potting it and then watering it wrong. It shipped with a pretty Tamora blooom that smells HEAVENLY! FYI, there are roots coming out the band container bottom, one of which is sticking out about an inch.
