Any thoughts on this one for a west facing terrace?

Some morning shade, fairly hot location for our yard.

I am just finishing a terrace in the lower garden, Mom is worried "people" will fall over the edge if I just leave it with low plants so I am thinking of doing a grape stick and wire fence and training something on it. Too late in the season to find a good grape and frankly, too low of a top wire for grapes in a chicken patrolled area.

I have the yellow sport of 'Colette', 'Lunar Mist'. I like it a lot. Good rust resistance, good repeat. Not all that big, perhaps 8'.

I've had Colette both here in VA and also in Santa Fe. In neither place has she been a great climber and here she blackspots in a blink. Colette was one of my mother's favorite authors; otherwise I would give up on her.

I have "Colette" and "Lunar Mist". Both were bands I purchased last year. They are still very short now. But have a lot of flowers and buds.

They both have great rust resistance. "Colette" is next to "blue girl". "Lunar Mist" is next to "Don Juan". I have about 34 roses. Only four have rust . "Blue girl" and "Don Juan" are the worst of the worst. (And "Don Juan" has black spot too!) I don't mind to spray. But my toddler son likes to help out! So cannot apply any chemical now.

The only complaint of them is : the flowers don't last very long under hot sun. Probably two days, then ball and "self clean" (really well though! ) Probably they are still young and haven't established well yet.

If you like crimson red and don't mind the flower is a bit "modern", you might try another Meilland rose "Crimson sky". Big flowers , repeat well, not rust. The biggest feature is the flowers last more than 10 days under hot sun, rain and wind! The deep red color doesn't fade and the flowers remain the form well.
