Looks like they cared more about their color scheme than about the names. The ones they picked to use as shrubs (Munstead Wood and Darcey Bussell) don't grow very tall--probably another factor they considered.

I think JC was for the 50th ("golden") celebration, and there was a new one for the 60th ("diamond"), 'Royal Jubilee'.
Here is a link that might be useful: the new one at DA UK

They probably never considered the name when they were choosing what to use. I'm sure there were certain other criteria that was more important. They made a beautiful display no matter the name!

Apparently they were some that the Queen had that she liked. Don't know how much truth there is to that. It may also have seemed like shameless marketing to use their new rose. The designer that chose the roses wasn't anything to do with DA - she requested the roses she liked. They are selling loads of Jubilee Celebration at the nursery - what is weird though is that you can't actually get Royal Jubilee yet - it is only bare roots from nov onwards. All the other new releases are available - just not that one. It is funny that they have put Jubilee Celebration on one of the beds up near the top where the newer roses are - they know how to place things for extra sales :-)

Jubilee Celebration is a floppy little non performer for me. Wish she was a better rose as I love her color and fragrance. Darcy B. is a much more vigorous rose. Btw...anyone have a suggestion for a JC lookalike? Smellalike?

JC is like a petite version of 'Abraham Darby', just without the Rust. Maybe Abe would work for you. JC works so well here because it stays small instead of being a monster.
