another report on peace (67 yr. old)

About 2 years ago...I reported on moving my Mom's old peace rose to my house. She had passed away and she loved that rose. It had hardly ever been pruned or taken care of in the last 12 or so yr. I steeled myself and asked my sons to dig it out and put it in black garbage bag full of it's
mud and water and move to north side of her house. They did a fantastic job for me. It blooming great for me this year after a lot of petting and pruning and fertilizing. I think that it has to be at least 66 yr. old. Cannot put a pic up yet cause don't know where dh put my camera. Anyway do not be afraid no matter how old your rose is. It is the first rose that I look every day when I survey them all.

Good work! That senior Peace has great value for many reasons. I would like to see a picture of its blooms.

It's a good story. I would however take a few cuttings if it might do well ownroot in your area, perhaps even have it grafted.

That is fantastic!!! I agree with taoseeker! I would take some cuttings, and start those just in case, God forbid, something happens to that rose. You can even start a few and plant them near by the mother plant. :)
