My Eureka yellow roses are opening with brown areas on the petals. Could this be due to thrips?

Yep, that's exactly what I'm getting on mine and I have a terrible infestation of thrips right now. All the roses look bruised.

Thrips or botrytis petal blight, which develops after cool rain. It causes pink spots on some varieties as well as brown rotten spots. Thrips damage is usually most obvious on the petal tips and edges, and the brownish areas tend to be dry rather than damp. Broad petal surfaces look scratched up. You can see the tiny thrips scurrying to hide when you separate the petals. Both conditions can occur on the same flower.
