What are the best ones for climbing while at the same time being very fragrant? I've have the Iceberg in the past, but is white the only color it comes in?

It's not limited to white. There is a Brilliant Pink version of Iceberg as well as a Burgundy version.

You're more likely to get applicable advice here if you include a zone & location along with your name. Growing conditions (and by default, suggestions) vary greatly with location.

I have only seen the climbing version of Iceberg in white though. There are lots of fragrant climbers to check out further; Colette, Gloire de Dijon and Compassion are usually easy to find for sale, the list goes on an on. There might be a rosarium or rosepark in your area where you can get an idea of which type of roses that does well in your climate, or perhaps even a neighbour. Climbing hybrid teas can be fantasticly fragrant; Climbing Etoile de Hollande and Climbing Souvenir de Georges Pernet is rather good too. If climbing Iceberg did well for you, all of these will likely do well too.

The problem with roses that are fragrant is that they are usually also very susceptible to disease. That has been the problem for rose cultivators. All are striving to breed a rose that is fragrant and also disease resistant. So far that has not come to pass.

Patty, why don't you list your location, that will help some one with some good suggestions.

'CLIMBING Iceberg' is white, and only white. There are colored sports of the BUSH form of Iceberg. Not climbing.

Yes, as Kippy suggests, your location would be very helpful. Not all roses are good in all locations.

Milleruszk, Your statement about fragrance and disease resistance is absolutely untrue. Right off the top, Rugosas are among the hardiest, most disease-resitant and very fragrant roses. Ditto Gallicas. And so on...

Yes--thank you for the correction about the climbing form coming only in white. I spoke out of turn & totally ignored the first word of the subject line.

Catrose,

Sorry I did not know Rugosas were also climbers. I thought they were only shrub roses.
