First of all I just want to say I feel like I post a lot of questions but while I am not new at gardening and I have always had a roses the extent of my rose knowledge was it is a red, yellow or pink one and I pruned them in the spring. I just recently developed a interest in earning more about them and have made many of my rose choices due to the advice of people on this forum. It has been a pleasure learning from everyone's experiences. Having said all that I will say thank you for everyone's patience as I am sure this will not be my last question :). And finally my question is this ......can I plant a new climbing rose with a already established New Dawn? I want something that repeat blooms since my New Dawn only blooms in the spring for me. I also have a newly planted Peggy Martin on the other end of the trellis but she's a baby but I know when she is established she will be a once bloomer also. Looking forward to what anyone has to say.

I just did this last weekend! :-) I planted a Blossomtime and an Awakening with my 3 New Dawns ( 7-8 yrs old, only bloom once in the Spring), and I planted one Renae with Blushing Lucy (7-8 yrs old, once bloomer for me)........

Unless your trellis is huge or you mean to spend your life pruning, I'd say New Dawn and Peggy Martin would take up all the space and then some. A photo wood be helpful.

I will get a pic this weekend. I was hoping to plant a short climber that repeat blooms so I will have color when the ND and PM are done blooming. My New Dawn looks scrawny to me and has never really turned into a monster like I have heard it can be. My PG is a very small, I received her as a cutting and put her in the ground so I don't expect her crowd anything out anytime soon and I really only want to plant something new on the side as the ND.
