Pope John Paul is the only one that has done this. He is full, beautiful and loaded with blooms. I think it might be a bug, because I do not spray for insects. Should I use some 3 in 1 on the roots of him or what?

I've read on here that 3 in 1 Bayer has not worked well for some people. Not a good product to use anyhow... First you must identify insect that's causing damage then go from that point. Maybe post pics of the damage and someone might be able to help you out...

Shake the flower buds over a white piece of paper. If you see little brownish specks, thats Thrips, and that is what is damaging the edges of the petals. Be aware that 3 in 1 will kill any bees that visit your roses.

Got out my magnifying glass, and saw that the petals were clean. Will take a white piece of paper out tomorrow. It is a tired day today. I do not use any insect stuff on roses or anywhere else. I will check back in with u all later.

just googled it too. I really think it is the crazy weather, and that seems to make the most sense. I will still do the white paper thing. I do not and I mean 'do not' spray insecticides of any kind. I see many birds of all types, and a few bees coming back lately. I do a happy dance about these

Sadly we once had lots of birds but hawks have been keeping them away parts of the summer these past 2 years... We have been getting a decent amount of bees... Honey and bumbles... I hope you figure out your petal problem charleney...
