Can I use Bayer systemic on Phlox for mildew??

Hi,
I sometimes spray my phlox paniculata (David, Robet Poore) with banner max when I'm spraying roses.

Got me thinking, can I use other rose mildew treatments on Phlox to prevent/control mildew? Or would that damage the phlox...such as Bayer systemic granule or drench treatments.

thanks,

It should say on the label what plants it can be used for. I've used it on crepe myrtles and azaleas that had mildew and it worked fine and took care of the mildew. I also used the drench on azaleas for a insect problem and it worked fine. You do use a lower concentration on plants other than roses. The key is to read the label and see the correct concentration for both the spray and drench.

The 2-in-1 granules do not contain a fungicide. They are cheap fertilizer mixed with the most toxic of all home garden pesticides, Di-syston (disulfoton). IMO (and I use lots of synthetic chemicals), this material is too dangerous for home garden use, and it will do your plants no good (compared to cheap 10-10-10 granular fertilizer).

The All-in-One drench product does have a fungicide that should control mildew on phlox, along with more cheap fertilizer and an unnecessary and possibly harmful insecticide. There are all sorts of cheaper, safer solutions for powdery mildew.

The chemical companies market these combo products to novice gardeners who don't know how to diagnose problems. Experienced gardeners avoid combo products and advise against buying them.

If you are surprised that some of these products are allowed in the U.S., you may find the very recent article that I link to below to be interesting reading.
