Insect or Critter!

I know this is not about roses, but many rose growers plant lilies with their roses. I have posted this on the lily forum but no takers on a solution so I thought I might try here! My lilies are disappearing slowly and this is what is happening. I cage them for protection from rabbits but something is stripping the stems. Any ideas? I love the lilies with the roses and am about to give them up. Thanks for any ideas or responses. Lesley
