"Abstract

Rosa x hybrida (rose) is very popular, is a very valuable crop, and requires a great deal of moisture, nutrients, and disease/pest controls. To conserve water resources, the use of surfactants may be an effective method of wetting the growing media. In this study, four varieties of ornamental roses âÂÂAll American Magicâ â¢, âÂÂPassionate KissesâÂÂ, âÂÂEyeconicâÂÂî Lychee Lemonade, and âÂÂRed DriftâÂÂî were evaluated for the use of surfactants to enhance post-harvest plant quality. After months of evaluation, it was determined that âÂÂAll American Magicâ â¢ and âÂÂRed DriftâÂÂî had very favorable responses to the use of the liquid surfactant, whereas âÂÂPassionate Kissesâ and âÂÂEyeconicâÂÂî Lychee Lemonade were unaffected by the use of the liquid surfactant."
