| Ok, you have all been so helpful that I thought I would pick on you again...
Has anyone ever done a study on how long individual roses last on the bush or how long it takes individual buds to open? (I realize that this is like asking which of your children are smarter or prettier.) For example, in my vast length of time growing roses (1 MONTH!) I have noticed that Brandy takes longer to open and stays on the bush longer than Gemini. Is this of interest to anyone? Andrea |

| Yes, exhibitors often time their show roses to determine exactly when to prune their roses for fall shows. But, this is less useful for spring shows, since many roses want to bloom at a particular time in the spring. |

| Well in Central Illinois, right now with being 104 outside, most roses will be a bud in the morning and be blown by 3pm!! The trick in knowing how long a bloom will stay open is to know the petal count of the rose. I have petal counts on all of mine. So when i am getting ready for a show i know which ones to cut and when. Brandy has about 30 petals and Gemini has 25-30 petals. The other thing than can factor in is how much shading the bloom gets during the day |

| Dan, Thanks. This is my Brandy. My roses get 5+ hours of full sun and the last 4 days have been in the 80s. It took one full day and night to get to this stage. And this evening (another full day) it is still not fully opened. I love it!!!! Andrea |

| Dan, This is a P.P.S. I am now keeping a record of how many petals each rose has and how long (and at what temp and amount of sunlight) it takes to open. Thanks again, Andrea |
